GXBank Help Centre

Why can't I access the GX Bank app? I see a "Your device may have been modified" screen.

To protect your account and personal data, the GX Bank app performs a security check every time it is launched. If Developer Options or USB/Wireless Debugging is detected as active on your device, the app will be blocked until you disable these settings.

These features are designed for software development purposes and can expose your device to unauthorised access. By disabling them, you ensure a secure banking environment on your device.

Developer Options

Developer Options is a hidden setting on Android devices that allows deeper system access, typically used by software engineers for testing and debugging. When enabled, it can:

  • Allow unauthorised apps or individuals to control your device remotely
  • Enable installation of apps without your knowledge
  • Expose sensitive banking data to potential attackers

To keep your account safe, the GX Bank app will not operate while Developer Options is active on your device.

USB Debugging (ADB)

USB Debugging (also known as ADB — Android Debug Bridge) is a feature within Developer Options that allows a computer to communicate with your Android device. When enabled, it can:

  • Allow a connected computer to silently install apps on your device
  • Enable copying or stealing of files and personal data from your device
  • Be exploited by fraudsters on the same Wi-Fi network to gain access to your device remotely

Even if you are not connected to a computer, having USB or Wireless Debugging enabled leaves your device vulnerable. The GX Bank app will block access until these settings are turned off.

I have turned off Developer Options. Why am I still blocked?

There may be more than one security issue detected on your device. If USB Debugging or Wireless Debugging is still active, or if other security concerns are present (such as a suspicious app or screen-sharing app), you may see an additional block screen. Please follow the steps shown on each block screen and re-open the GX Bank app after resolving each issue. The app will re-scan automatically each time you return to it.

If you have resolved all issues and are still unable to access the app, please contact us.
