Under what circumstances that funds in my account will be on hold?
The following are examples where your funds will be on hold / earmarked:
- Petrol stations: A pre-authorisation charge of RM 200 (or another amount set by the petrol station) may be applied for petrol purchases at self-service pumps.
- Hotels: A pre-authorisation charge may be applied at check-in, with the amount depending on the length of your stay.
- Parking: Parking terminals may apply a pre-authorisation charge when you enter a parking facility.
- Public Transportation Systems: Pre-authorisation charges may apply for certain transportation services, such as SGD15 for MRT transactions in Singapore. Similar charges may apply to other transit systems in the future.
As a rule of thumb, the holding /earmarking of funds in your GX Savings Account linked to the GX Card occurs when you are pending completion of a transaction where the actual transaction amount cannot be determined at the point of purchase initiation.
